Summer MiniCourse on Algebraic Geometry

Physics Without Frontiers (PWF) and Physics Latam are pleased to announce our upcoming mini-course on Algebraic Geometry in Spanish.
This mini-course will be taught in Spanish and online mode 3 times a week from the 1st - 31st of August 2023

Algebraic Geometry is the study of geometric objects defined by algebraic equations. In this mini-course, we will introduce students to the basic concepts and techniques of Algebraic Geometry. We will cover topics such as varieties, sheaves, stalks, schemes, sheaf cohomology, and more. Students will gain an understanding of the fundamental concepts and techniques of Algebraic Geometry and will be equipped with the necessary tools to study more advanced topics in this field.
This advanced course is designed for senior undergraduate and graduate students from Latin America who have a background in Abstract Algebra and Topology, notions of Differential Geometry might be useful.
Students who complete the course will receive an ICTP-PWF certificate.

Help students in Latin America to gain advanced knowledge in Mathematics.
Provide students with an opportunity to engage with other students from different universities in Latin America
Enable students to solve weekly assignments on Algebraic Geometry
Mentor top-performing students without MSc./Ph.D. to pursue studies abroad by providing advice and recommendations about scholarships at international programs
Students will have the opportunity to solve weekly assignments and participate in online discussions. To further enhance the learning experience, the course will feature a series of expert guest speakers who will deliver lectures on the latest developments in Algebraic Geometry and applications.
